MAHASHIVRATRI VEDIC YAGYA (PUJA) 

Maha Shivaratri from Sanskrit "the great night of Shiva" is the most important event in the spiritual calendar of India.  The Maha Shivratri festival honors Lord Shiva, also known as "Mahadev".  The Sanskrit word Mahadeva means "Greatest God," "Almighty God," or simply "Supreme God."  Lord Shiva is the oldest revered deity in Hinduism and Maha Shivaratri is a major festival widely celebrated on darkness and ignorance in life.  The commemoration of victory, and the night of marriage between Shiva and Shakti (Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati) is also known as Har.  It is the only religious festival celebrated overnight in all parts of the world (India).  Mahashivratri festival worship or Maha Shivratri Tithi is celebrated on the 14th day of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month.

 WHY DO WE CELEBRATE MAHASHIVRATRI  YAGYA (PUJA) 

 Why Shivratri is celebrated - Maha Shivratri is the wedding day of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.  Eternal Shiva had a union with Shakti Shakti on this night.  On this occasion of Mahashivratri, women observe Jagran and sing hymns and devotional songs praising Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.  Married and unmarried women fast for Lord Shiva. Shiva-Parvati worship takes place throughout the night in the form of 'Gauri' (Gauri Puja) to attain the goodwill of Goddess Parvati - who blesses long and prosperous married life and recitations  Do Shiva mantra for marriage.  They end their Mahashivratri fast by taking prasad after morning aarti.
